MEM Eagle, a complex amino acid and vitamin rich medium, was developed from Eagle's Basal Medium (BME). Based on Eagle's Hank's BSS, MEM is one of the most widely used of all synthetic cell culture media. MEM Eagle with EBS or HBS supports the growth and proliferation of a variety of fastidious primary mammalian cells and established cell lines, both in monolayer- and suspension-culture. Supplementation with serum or certain proteins supports the culture.
